Formwork/shuttering is a kind of usage of plywood . Formwork plywood can also be called Shuttering Plywood . Film faced plywood / MDO faced plywood / Wood veneer faced plywood can all be used as Form Work .
The glue for Formwork plywood are WBP glue . But if you require an economical Formwork plywood for small concrete projects, MR glue can also be your choice, too . As far as I know, some Chinese construction company use MR glue Formwork Plywood for small concrete projects .
Film faced plywood is the commonly / widely used Formwork . Surface film is paper impregnated with a glue/resin . Film faced Formwork plywood have improved resistance to abrasion, moisture penetration, chemicals, insects and fungi. They have a smooth hygienic, easy to clean surface. Usually, the color of film is dark brown (120 g/m2) and black (240 g/m2) . But other colors such as green, yellow or transparent are also available . Heavier films than usual are available, too .
MDO faced plywood is a kind of film faced plywood . MDO stands for medium density overlay (paper), which is much better/expensive than the surface film for ordinary film faced plywood . So MDO faced plywood is most expensive among the three kinds of Formwork plywood .
Wood veneer faced plywood is cheapest among the three . In order to use formwork easily , people will print a kind of glue/oil to the face/back of wood veneer faced formwork plywood during production . Because of the glue/oil on the face/back, wood veneer faced formwork plywood can be easily removed from the concrete .
All kinds of Formwork plywood are edge sealed by painting to minimize moisture/water penetration during usage .
